Gene Franklin
1935-2025
The man who started it all. He was truly a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Gene was also one hell of a steel man.
Gene grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Soon after high school he landed his first job in the steel industry with Bethlehem Steel. For years he developed knowledge, a sense of business ethics, and a customer first mentality. In 1968, he moved his family to Baton Rouge and opened up Baton Rouge Steel (1968-1993). In 1993 he transitioned business models and opened Steel Sales & Services (1993-2024). He still went into the office up until a few months before his passing. Family & steel were Gene’s life. We thank and honor him for everything he has taught and instilled in us.
